Harris' Troubling Views on Censorship

It fell between stools because nobody anticipated Trump would direct his mob at the Capitol.

That was pretty stupid but Pelosi only has a small share of that.

The House administers the District of Columbia by itself, not with the Senate.

Then why this joint responsibility structure.

"John Stolnis, spokesperson for the U.S. Capitol Police, told USA TODAY that oversight is complex.

"The United States Capitol Police (USCP) is overseen by the Capitol Police Board and has Congressional oversight by appropriations and authorizing committees from the U.S. House of Representatives and U.S. Senate," Stolnis wrote in an email.

Panels that oversee USCP are the House and Senate committees on Appropriations, the Subcommittee on the Legislative Branch; the Committee on House Administration and the Senate Committee on Rules and Administration.

Sens. Jack Reed, D-R.I. and Mike Braun, R-Ind., are chairperson and ranking member on the Senate side.

House authorizing committee chairman and ranking member are Reps. Zoe Lofgren, D-Calif., and Rodney Davis, R-Ill. Sen. Amy Klobuchar, D-Minn., and Roy Blunt, R-Mo., are chairperson and ranking member of the Senate committee. "

As you can see it was not Pelosi's personal role. The Capitol Police and the relevant people were not prepared for an attack launched by the President.

They didn't see the MAGA rally going south.

Pelosi was talking in general terms of the Congress and it's mechanisms.

Actually, I'm sure they did anticipate in their own minds, but to say it out loud before the betrayal, that was too much to expect. They had to declare the POTUS as a potential public/state enemy.

@ipatent, are you now willing to accept that Congress is both House and Senate?

Or do you need more time?

Get back to it tomorrow maybe.

"That Has To Stop": Harris Denounces Unfettered Free Speech In 2019 CNN Interview

Where Biden was viewed as an opportunist in embracing censorship, Harris is a true believer. Like Walz, she has long espoused a shockingly narrow view of free speech that is reflective of the wider anti-free speech movement in higher education.

Harris often speaks of free speech as if it is a privilege bestowed by the government like a license and that you can be taken off the road if you are viewed as a reckless driver.

Trump and the third party candidates are clearly not forcing Harris to address her record on free speech. Yet, polls show that the majority of Americans still oppose censorship and favor free speech.

No, I was wrong.

Its not that your were wrong, it's that potentially millions were put in a trick bag, so that an absolutely foundational piece of civics they learned as kids, was reprogrammed.

Jim Jordan started it and then it grew on fertile soil.
