Fair enough, we can have that discussion, and in fact on this board we often have that discussion.

But getting back to actual human bondage, you and I agree that it is not something democrats support today. So on that alone the labels refer to different types of people now than they used to. Credit goes to those people long ago who rejected slavery, at the time they wore the label "republican" (though it seems they were proponents of stronger government, if not bigger, so they're not like modern republicans). And those who became democrats at that time did it in opposition to those republicans, not because "democrat" is a synonym for legal ownership of other human beings.

It's not unfair to say that the labels of long ago are as meaningful to us today as powdered wigs.

It appears you are completely unaware of the modern history of the Democratic Party.

Let's start with - Name the party that has backed many KKK members elected to federal, state, and local office during the recent three decades?

Hint: It is the same party that ran KKK members for office in the 2010 and 2012 election cycle.

ha ha, white democrats have always thought themselves to be superior to blacks (who in their elitist mind are the poor and under privileged (since they wouldn't have a thing to show for themselves if Daddy was not rich.)) Most republicans agree with Lyndon Johnson. "If you give the nigroes economic equality they will catch up."
 
Day the bill is released: Media circus, great fanfare, dancing in the streets.

Day after bill is released: Media horrified, social media meltdown, riots....due to bills being defaced with noose/burning cross/horns ect.

You know its going to happen. I am already sick of hearing about the new $20 and the worst is yet to come.

The average lifespan of the current $20 is 7.9 years, the new one will probably average about 7.9 days.

Lets get back to giving Jackson the boot. I don't see the point of that other than to stick it to someone. Jackson was a very instrumental person during the founding of this country. he should be honored.
If we want to give honor to someone like Tubman, and do so with some form of currency, then we can come up with another bill. Wouldn't bother me to have a couple twenty-fives in my wallet. Better yet, let's leave the currency as it is and just honor her in some other way. I have no problem with giving some mention and a salute to those that stood up during that time. There's simply no need to remove others to do so.
 
The dems got a woman running for president and she needs the black vote.
So, we get a black woman put on the bill in an election year.
And we take off Jackson because he made someone cry and the sjw don't like that.

If the American People vote based on whose portrait is on the $20 bill I think it is safe to say we have become a highly educated society.
 
I did see an alternative idea this weekend. We put a picture of Prince on the bill, call it the bill formally known as the twenty, and it's value is 19.99
