Fair enough, we can have that discussion, and in fact on this board we often have that discussion.That's not the mentality I meant, but yes, they do support human slavery. It's called total dependency on government. I was talking about the mentality of hating anything different. The party of "tolerance" and "inclusiveness" sure come up with a whole lot of labels for people, especially the ones they don't like.
But getting back to actual human bondage, you and I agree that it is not something democrats support today. So on that alone the labels refer to different types of people now than they used to. Credit goes to those people long ago who rejected slavery, at the time they wore the label "republican" (though it seems they were proponents of stronger government, if not bigger, so they're not like modern republicans). And those who became democrats at that time did it in opposition to those republicans, not because "democrat" is a synonym for legal ownership of other human beings.
It's not unfair to say that the labels of long ago are as meaningful to us today as powdered wigs.
