This is a statement for which there appears to be no support whatsoever. The vast majority of very good students keep their grades to themselves, at least by the time they are in college. Good students who have accomplished much of merit in the college studies will generally have enough self confidence that they don't feel the need to brag or show off.

Most college students get either an A or a B just for showing up these days so why even bother to boast about grades.
