The chairman of the China Banking Regulatory Commission, Liu Ming-kang, warned against growing risks to the banking system after seeing new loans ballooning since the beginning of this year. The 164% yoy rise in new loans to Rmb8,185b for the first eight months of 2009 has caused widespread concern that prudent risk management has been overlooked by the banks and remedial measures need to be taken.

Noticed that resources are weak in last couple of weeks compared to overall market. When market up resources up the same, when market down resources down 2x or more. Probably something to do with China market. Rest of the market helped by printing ?

I think swine flu is going to be an issue for China. Recall the death rate in Mexico was ascribed, in part, to the spotty health care system there. China is going to be a death-trap for anyone who comes down with severe swine flu. Current figures are that about 15% of those who contract swine flu will need hospitalization.

At minimum, foreign businesspeople are planning to avoid travel into China during the height of flu season. Locals will also likely curtail travel and nonessential public contact.

Swine flu related weakness ought to begin weighing on Chinese equities any time now. I would not be surprised to see the Hang Seng and Shanghai markets sell off +30%, depending on how flu season unfolds and how the government responds. Gonna be interesting ...

AS this is really something! A while ago, I was playing SPI where daily range 1% felt like rollercoaster to me... Still made money though. If you dont mind.... what broker do you use for hangseng? What about market order, stop loss execution , lots of slippage on say up to 5 contracts ?

There are only a handful of FCM´s offering direct market access to Asian exchanges.

Newedge, Fortis, MF Global...

Hangseng is a beast of contract. I was trapped lately down -200 while being in the restroom for 6 minutes.

Lots of slippage, too. Sometimes I am looking for decent volume as I trade a bit more than 5 lots. I simply hope that some market players will switch to Asia while the machines are in full control of ES action and thus offer some more intraday volume.

Stops can really be a mess. Just try to place a 100 lot stop loss order - not funny !
