The IDF says it has found one of the largest stockpiles of Hamas weapons in the northern Gaza Strip comprised of hundreds of rockets, launchers, grenades, drones and explosive devices.

The IDF spokesman for the Arabic media, Avichay Adraee, said the weapons were found near a clinic and a school.

The IDF claimed to have found hundreds of missiles and launchers, dozens of anti-armour missiles, dozens of explosive devices, long-range missiles that were "directed to be launched towards the centre of the State of Israel", and dozens of hand grenades and unmanned aerial vehicles.

"All weapons were seized by the forces, some of which were detonated in the field, while others were sent to follow up the investigation."

He said the "terrorist infrastructure was found near civilian buildings within the civilian population" providing "further evidence of the terrorist organisation Hamas's ridiculous use of the residents of the Gaza Strip as human shields".

Everything in Gaza is near a school or clinic:

Gaza has a population density of about 14,000 people per square mile (5,500 per square kilometer). That’s about the same as London, a city brimming with high-rise buildings, but also many parks. Gaza has few open spaces, especially in its cities, due to lack of planning and urban sprawl.

Gaza’s density is even tighter in its urban cores like Gaza City or Khan Younis, where tens of thousands are packed into cramped neighborhoods and where density rates become more comparable to certain cities in highly populated Asia.

About 40% of Gaza's population is 14 years old or younger and the territory's median age was just 18 in 2020, making Gaza home to one of the world's 20 youngest populations, based on figures from the CIA's World Factbook.

The mean age at death was 52.4 years in 2014 and 49.7 in 2013, and about 50 % were older than 60 years in both years. The crude non-trauma death rates among adults were 11.6 per 10,000 population in 2014 and 11.3 in 2013, and the age standardised 13.2 and 12.4, respectively. Higher death rates in 2014 were observed among elderly and women. Cardiovascular disease was the most common cause of death among adults of both sexes, and infectious diseases caused less than 10 % in both periods. Three maternal deaths were observed in 2013 and six in 2014 (p = 0.17). The proportion of deaths that occurred in a hospital ward was 71.5 % in 2013 and 51.2 % in 2014.

Hamas mostly follows Islamic law in warfare and the handling of hostages. If there was any sexual violence it was an outlier.

Which post?

Starting w/the first, as if somehow the GOP's education takeover is interested in having honest exploration of history instead of apologia for slavery and nazism. Here are a few others:

The camp records show most deaths were from disease, with a few executions by hanging. The most damning records are the train passenger lists.

"disease" is a curious way to refer to forced malnutrition from starvation.

5.1 million according to Raul Hilberg.

disputing the 6 million figure is a common holocaust denialist tactic

The train records and common sense (where are my relatives) show that there were a lot of missing people, many of them Jews, after the war, but a lot of the stories about how the killings happened and where seem to have been based on unreliable witness accounts or by military propagandists. I don't see the harm in digging into the mysteries....the truth could be worse than gas chambers.

disputing atrocities and murder methods is a common holocaust denialist tactic

How the Jedwabne, Poland Jews died is still an open controversy with "two sides"

Polish Jewish leaders object as government mulls exhumations at Jedwabne pogrom site

Some Poles want the massacre site excavated to uncover possible evidence that Germans ordered Polish villagers to do the killings. The work was started in 2001 and stopped by the justice minister after several days due to Jewish objections.

The Jedwabne pogrom was one of several massacres carried out by Poles during the German occupation. Many historians see it as evidence that anti-Semitism existed in a significant part of the Polish population.

Many Polish nationalists think it is unfair to blame Poles and that Germany bears the ultimate responsibility given the methods of terror and violence Nazis used in occupied Poland.

ah yes, let's reopen the "how did it happen conversation" to entertain "Polish Nationalist" concerns.
