Haggerty Entries

I have always thought that Haggerty's "Slimjim" patterns were
mostly supposed to be used for continuation entries? I don't
believe they are really supposed to be for reversal entries, but
he does use them for that also. But he keeps those to a minimum...

I wasn't relating the slim jims to reversal trades, although I can see how my post might have given that impression. Yeah, they are continuation patterns, I only use them as such.

I use all of his strategies every day, have had great success
with his techniques, can not believe some of the comments on site
I am reading.
It makes me wonder how they have applied his knowledge
and hw much time they have spent on them.

Open reversals , trap doors, flip tops, take time to learn,
i have studied , cataloged many 5 minute charts,
It takes time and experience once mastered can be
very profitable.
.

It is not something you learn in a couple of days, but well worth the effort.

Of what I know on his systems, I found that he simply took some well known trading setups, renamed them (Slimjim = tight channels, etc.) and teachs them as his own. Basically, if you open a good Technical Analysis book you will find most of his setups there under different (original) names. What he might have added to those are money and risk management, but by what people say here, those are not very good...

GB,

Can you please quantify the amount of time and effort you spent studying Haggerty's methods before you were able to trade them consistently profitably?

Thanks.

Gbungard,

Could you also share with us how you use market dynamics in trading the Haggerty entries?

That's one area that Haggerty has mentioned in his columns/lessons/seminars, that I'm a bit unclear about.

Thanks.

HI,

Will if you have latest seminar material he has clearly showed you
step by step and spends a great deal of time on that.

One outstanding thing I learned is using ticks and
Sp's for entry's, along with RST's & other tools he uses which I have learned from seminar.
I have used ticks for years but did not know the tricks
he has learned me.

Which seminar did you attend ?

I am reluctant to go into detail, since the materials
are proprietary, unless with seminar attendee.

The materials on dynamics I have never read any where before
and I have just about every book written in last 30 years.

I am not saying everyone should attend his seminar, it matters not to me, and is not intended for everyone.
It is very advanced, one student in seminar ask him to explain what he meant by EPS and RS during FAQ.

Well that is hard to say, I have been a member of Trading
Markets since they started, and have read Haggerty's columns
everyday, and save parts of them when I see something
new. ( that is about the only column I consistently read except
Jeff Cooper when he was there 2-3 years ago )

So I have been building on his knowledge for a long time.

For someone to start from -O- I have no idea how long it
would take.

Haggerty is unlike any one else I have ever encountered,
he has tremendous knowledge of all the working parts
of Wall Street, hedge funds, generals, how they work there orders, what it means to a trader, how it shows up on charts, takes time to learn his 30 years of experience,
and he does hold anything back.

I get the feeling you have not attended his seminar but thinking
about it ?
