Right, I don't know dozens of kids who got in over their heads with student loans and got harrassed at work, had their parents and friends called, had some bitch from India scream at their bosses over a speakerphone where they could hear... yeah, won't ever happen.
The rules only assure framework. The penalties were not imposed in any of these cases, all of which were reported to the Feds via the FDCPA and FCRA. Stop assuming, fuckup.
That said, they all paid their loans back in time.
Quote from jeangenie:
I suspect that student loan agencies harass student borrowers for the same reason that student-ghetto landlords harass their broke-ass tenants - because they know if they raise enough cain, the parents will shell out at some point.
Quote from Mecro:
Refer to my previous post. You do not know what you are talking about even if you can google the laws in place. Assuming you even know anybody who is not insane (as most semi-intelligent ET members know you are a delusional liar), the laws do not just magically pop up and help you out. They have to be applied and if you even had half a brain, you could have researched the cases.
ANY efficient & credible collection agency does not waste time harassing debtors. It makes attempts for a short while, then goes gets a judgements and starts collecting its money, if there is even any money to collect.

Agreed. Affirmative action in whole is a waste. Gotta see some white kids in class as well.

I have a black guy, retired fireman, working on a property for me, he even agrees. We have spent $6-8 Trillion, NOT INCLUDING the home loan programs to redlined areas on The Great Society programs since mid 60's and poverty is up, blacks are riding the economic caboose still... all it does is buy votes for Democrats..
Quote from ML_QUANT:
Well, then harassing is all they can do? If he comes back, no one will know his add. nor his number, his credit is screwed already so won't be looking for new loans, just pay his monthly dues based on what he can afford, deposited by money orders and that's it...live a normal life back in US.
Quote from bigdavediode:
Yes, if you believe misinformation such as "poverty is up" then it's easy to be fooled.

You are totally full of shit. I got multiple telephone calls per day for a year or more until I informed just ONE of them of my rights, in writing, certified, and then they ALL quit calling because what they do is illegal. None of them will get a judgement unless the individual debt, not the total, is $25-$30k or more, it's not worth it in lawyer time for them to do that.....
