Angela Merkel has done an outstanding job since she took over as chancellor even though most of the Agenda 2010 was a SPD led initiative. I used to live in Germany at that time, and though I did like Schroeder, if only for being such a good speaker & political beast. I think her less aggressive posture helped her a lot push through a lot of reforms.

You're right, Merkel does her job very good (although I only lived in Germany during Schroeder), but she's not the typical good feminine traditional woman (unlike Palin, who is obviously having a hard time now)....no wonder they call Merkel the "Iron Lady"...I mean, she studied physics!! Good for her, but I'm friends with some that studied science, and many of them are very much on the liberal feminist side with very little emotions.
Real women do much better behind the scenes....
