Not sure how that would effect me personally as I have no intention of ever turning over a firearm or a single round of ammunition.

As I've said before if they want my guns they better bring a backhoe, a large crane and ground penetrating radar.

I would never advocate for the overthrow of the United States government but I can see how others might if this goes forward.

The likelihood is that you are right.

But, otoh, they are talking about bombing countries over their carbon emissions in the U.N. just for perspective on the insanity that is now underway.

The events in europe are demonstrating why it is necessary to be heavily armed. These days things can change quickly. It is very possible citizens may need to form groups to protect themselves if the police or government abandons them, as was done in the Baltimore race riots and as is happening in europe.

I have grave concerns that the republicans may sell us out on gun control as they have on issue after issue. The establishment republicans seem to want to be democrat-lite, and it seems hard to believe they would fight obama or hillary on gun control. It wasn't that long ago that moderate republicans took the view that the Second Amendment was not an individual right and that hunting and target shooting were the only acceptable reasons to own a firearm. Many of them supported the assault rifle ban.

When has feasibilty ever deterred liberals?

It wouldn't happen in one fell swoop. First it would be assault weapons and high cap mags. Then all semi auto pistols and long guns. Then certain ammo ("armor piercing", "cop killer"). Eventually all firearms.

Liberals actually like the prospect that there would be widespread defiance. One of their favorite pursuits is criminalizing law-abiding people and ignoring real crime. They would assert gestatpo-like power to trample our rights. After all, they would be fighting terrorism.
