So you think ("shocking") sexuality has a bearing on the quality of economic thought?

I believe his point was that ad hominem arguments do not address the actual data. In the case of the article TT produced, the data being used by anti gun zealots is clearly designed to confuse the issue by use of specious comparisons. That same point has been made, probably somewhat less artfully, here many times. The US murder rate is grossly inflated by urban black gang warfare.

The obvious takeaway is that culture and demographics have far more to do with gun violence than gun ownership. Similarly, mental illness has far more to do with mass shootings than gun availability.

Clinton Considers Mandatory Gun "Buy-Backs" - Ignites Confiscation Concerns

Just days after talk of President Obama's gun control executive orders, and following a disappointing showing at the Democrat Debate, Hillary Clinton has jumped back on the populist bandwagon suggesting that, as Fox reports, it is "worth looking into" mandatory gun buy-back programs like ones in Australia. "This validates what the NRA has said all along," said Chris Cox, executive director of The NRA, with Clinton's comments making “very clear” that the underlying goal of gun-control advocates is confiscation.

As Fox News reports,

Hillary Clinton said Friday that mandatory gun buy-back programs like ones in Australia are “worth looking into,” sparking criticism that the Democratic presidential front-runner would, if elected, impose gun-confiscation efforts.

Clinton made the comments during a campaign stop in Keene, N.H., when an attendee asked about Australia’s 1996 and 2003 buy-back programs that collected roughly 700,000 banned semi-automatic rifles and other firearms.

“I think it would be worth considering doing it on the national level, if that could be arranged,” Clinton responded.

“This validates what the NRA has said all along,” said Chris Cox, executive director of the National Rifle Association’s Institute for Legislative Action. “The real goal of gun control supporters is gun confiscation.”

Cox said Clinton’s comments echo recent ones by President Obama, making “very clear” that the underlying goal of gun-control advocates is confiscation.

...

"Hillary Clinton just doesn’t get it," Cox said. "The NRA’s strength lies in our five million members and the tens of millions of voters who support the Second Amendment.

"A majority of Americans support this freedom, and the Supreme Court was absolutely right to hold that the Second Amendment guarantees the fundamental, individual right to keep and bear arms," he added. "Hillary Clinton's extreme views are completely out of touch with the American people."

I wonder if Hillary didn't just have her very own Kevin McCarthy moment? Under stress and without a teleprompter, she blurted out her true feelings on a subject, with likely disastrous effects.

Trump by contrast has a gun position paper that could have been written by the NRA.

At least I give hillary credit for not lying, which is a big step for her.

Right. Present culture, demographics and mental illness isn't changing anytime too soon.
Great argument for limiting guns, thx!
Other nations have done it, successfully.

Then, judging by recent history, there appears to be a lot of mental instability in the US. Perhaps you should undertake a study of the relationship between mental illness and gun availability. ;)

"A 12-year-old Hempstead girl struck in the head by a bullet fired from outside her home as she ate dinner has died, police said Sunday.

And a law enforcement source said investigators are examining a possible feud between neighborhood gangs, including the Bloods and Crips, as a motive for the shooting."

Illegally owned guns fired by criminals/thugs in gangs would never be removed by any gun ban anyone ever put in place. Besides, it should be noted that New York state has strict gun laws in place - but they didn't prevent this tragedy at all.

You apparently haven't read anything in the articles in the first part of the thread, or else you wouldn't say such absurd things. Actually, maybe you would.

Other countries (like Australia) that have executed limiting guns are not comparable with the United States as there are already far too many weapons on the street. For example, Australia brought in 800,000 guns in it's buy back program. Right now, there are 4.5 million illegal weapons on the street in the US alone. Forget about the legal ones.

You really really really like your gun, don't you. Did you ever ask yourself why you are so fascinated with it? You speak about guns with same adoration I do about automobiles.
