Gun control toast

Quote from Scataphagos:

Now, now... you know better. That wasn't the "gubment's dime", as the government has no dimes. That was taxpayer dimes. (Or, dimes borrowed from the Chinese and put on the American taxpayer's credit card... where Odumbo voters don't care about that sort of thing, as they pay no Federal Income Tax... it's the 'other half', I mean, of course.)

So true!

And when I was enlisted, can you believe the USMC used to BURY 30 round magazines after shooting them? Was unreal!

We had numerous guys get caught sneaking at night trying to dig them up so they could sell them for $5 a mag.

My time in the Marines showed me just how out of control the gubment is with their reckless spending of THE PEOPLE'S money. If I tried to tell you some of the shit I saw, you wouldn't believe me.

How about building buildings that sat empty? i.e., never used, and never were intended to be used. Brand new buildings!

Buying commercial airline tickets that were never used. just thrown away.

Flying filet mignon, crab, etc., overseas for big elaborate dinners for the brass.

Buying $3,000 each night vision monoculars only to pile them up, never use them, then surplus them out for pennies on the dollar.

The list goes on and on...

what the fuck? That's ridiculous, it really is just a fact that spending opm, especially people that the spenders don't even know, just leads to abuse. I support our military and i can see that they need to spend on R&D and they are gonna have surplus stuff but what is the point of buildings that aren't used, is that only blown to justify the budget?

Quote from PiggyBank:

Basically.

And the other problem is too much power. These shitheads have to justify their jobs, and they do it by spending OUR $ on shit they'll NEVER use. Very sad!

Just like how rich are portrayed to the masses: car runs out of gas, they go buy a new one.

Quote from Covertibility:

#3 is irrelevant because why focus on schools alone, how about malls, movie theaters and other venues that attract a large number of unarmed people?
Why would they even need to be unarmed in the first place?

exactly, talk about hypocrisy.

although I should mention most military guys, at least that i've met, are generally not soak the rich, crybaby libs.

Quote from PiggyBank:

I wasn't talking about just a new law, but a system that would make it easy and enforceable to punish dealers who break the law in exchange for decreased gun control for law abiding gun owners. I would be surprised if you wouldn't support that. Keep in mind, I'm NOT talking about the real life bill that got shutdown yesterday, but the hypothetical compromise I posted in this thread.

basically,

1) a national database that lists convicted felons and people diagnosed as insane that dealers have to check before making a sale. And prosecution if you sell to someone on the list.

Not a bad idea on the surface, in theory.

Problem is approximately 83% of armed felons never get and are never going to get their guns in a manner requiring a background/data base check to begin with.

Most are conservative types, yes.
