I have watched the press in Canada this week. All the media stated the cop that was executed was unarmed.

The print media, however, says nothing about whether he was unarmed or not. Therefore, one can assume that he was armed, just like the bodyguard that was shot.

The bicycle cops, on the other hand, were unarmed. But they weren't shot.

If anyone can find any primary source -- i.e., something other than a blog -- that says that the cop who was shot in the head was unarmed, I'd love to see it. But so far no one has come up with anything, regardless of what The Karate Kid has to say.

Even if someone does find something, however, it will not affect my point regarding being armed and being safe since the bodyguard was armed and was killed anyway. I sugget, therefore, that the GI Joes in the forum who think they can handle this sort of thing watch fewer movies and take out more life insurance.

Ah, so we have to find a written source that you accept before you'll accept that the cop was unarmed? I noticed that you began covering your ass regardless with the "even if someone does find something". It's ok, truth doesn't require you to accept it in order for it to be truth.

No one on this forum said they could handle this sort of thing. Everything is situational. What was said, however, is that being armed gives you a better chance against those that are armed, vs. not being armed. That's all.

Just like the two bike cops that showed up with no guns (this you don't dispute) and were forced to flee. Had they been armed, they could have confronted the terrorists and likely changed the end result.

Yes, the earlier stories stated he did not have a gun. The more recent ones do.

Which begs to question why one cannot see him pull out his weapon on the video. Maybe it was invisible?

Let's assume he was armed like the new reports say. Why didn't he fire a shot? Hell, American police officers fire when they see a toy gun, these guys don't shoot when they see AK47s?

While some reports stated he fired at the terrorists; the Paris police spokesperson stated he did not fire his weapon. It sounds like he had it drawn but was still trying to figure out what was going on when the terrorists shot him the first time with the AK.

People living across the street took videos from their apartment windows of the shooting. Of course none had a weapon.

I'll wager if LeapUp or Lucrum or Tsing or plenty of others here had been in those apartments and had their weapons, they would have dropped those terrorists on the spot or at least given the police covering fire.

None of the magazine staff had weapons. If they had all been armed, they would at least have had a chance. Instead they depended on one lone policeman.
