Groupon

Quote from emg:

This is the Generation Y era. Social Media mania. The bubble begins.

The Generation X had their mania which was dot.com

The baby boomer had their mania which was the Saving and Loan bubble during the 80s

Let the generation Y enjoy their boom. Eventually will bust

PS

u will notice that majority of groupon workers are generation Y. That is no different than the dot.com era where majority of the workers were Generation X

Dont forget the Post war generation, they had their GoGo stock bubble. (ie Litton, tecmo ling vought, ie: the conglomerates, and stocks that had the words "tronics" somewhere in the name.

Quote from S2007S:

A lot of copy cat sites like groupon, doesnt take much to mimic this model, they are rushing to the market now because they know the hype is almost done with, after the zynga and facebook ipo there is no hype left so they are trying to get in while the money is still hot, thats what happens when you have easy money policies and stimulus money floating around the economy for 2-3 years.

dot com bubble is coming back....

the chicago tribune has an article today about groupon:

charman eric lefkofsky's stock in groupon is worth almost $6.5 billion, which would put him ahead of sam zell and the pritzgers as the wealthiest chicagoan.

I believe his original investment was $1 million. most estimates put valuations of groupon ipo at $ 20-30 billion.

Quote from loufah:

2010 revenue was $713M, gross profit was $280M of that, but net loss was $389M. What did they spend $670M on?
Yeah this looks like pump and dump.
