Last time I took a plane I peeked into the cabin while we were loading and there right in the middle of the instrument panel was a Garmin GPS... looked just like the one I have mounted on my windshield.

I have had a gps on my cell phone for years but I have never used it. I wouldn't mount my cell phone on my windshield so I can see it when I drive. I think it's better to have a dedicated device mounted on the car and used just for that purpose and keep your cell phone in your pocket in case someone calls you.
