Grinding it out, day after day

2011 Recap

Grossed $287,000. Traded 24 million shares, 500 futures contracts, 112 options contracts. Net after all commissions, fees and expenses was $211,000.

This was my worst year since my first year trading full time in 2002. The few days after the Japanese earthquake in March and when the European debt crisis first flared up in August were the only events that I recall as yielding "good" trading. In fact after August, it felt like someone flipped a switch and the market just changed. Everything went consistently bad for me. I don't know if anything really changed or not, but it seemed to be tied to the constant news flow out of Europe and the incredible correlation across all markets.

I hit my equity high for the year on August 12th and in the 22 weeks after that I had 11 losing weeks. My long term average is 1 losing week every 6. By the end of the year I was trading less than half the size I started out with, just hoping to wait things out and make adjustments until I see some better consistency.

I'll keep an eye on you Eddiefl too.

Seriously, is there any difference in exposing 2 years or 10 years?

Admit, folks, you too wanted to know lescor's track, but just didn't dare to ask ;) And moreover, I'm far from insisting, if you noticed. Just if lescor's in the mood. So please refrain from commenting on this and let the man decide.

Why I asked this? Because I wanted to know what kind of yearly swings others experience, as simple as this. And I'm not interested in absolute values as such - a percentage will do. For instance, profit in 2002 - 100%, 2003 - 250% (of 2002), 2004 - 50% (of 2002), etc.

Equity curve.

he double topped at $325,000.00 with diverge and a zerolag cross over.

trend change.

shoulda gone short at that point............:)

playing thru.

We've been in the new house for almost a year now. It turned out pretty much just as we wanted.

Here's a couple pics from a local home magazine that featured it.

Whoever designed this place has style. I like how all this wood was incorporated. Classy.

Now, since there are two garages, share some pictures of the beasts that are parked in there. I remember R8 was once mentioned as a possible addition to your stable. Has that particular purchase been realized?

great house, must have taken a couple to 6 months to build that roof and inside, were they local or specialists, very talented

Lescor, thanks once again for sharing with us here on ET. A question for you when you have a chance.

During the year, when you noticed, say for example in August or Sept, that your returns would not be as large as 2010, (800K), where you tempted to change your systems or strategy.

Or start researching new strategies or put all the chips on your best working stratagies. Basically did you do anything to change or just kept steady with the systems and let the odds play themselves out.

I ask this, because that is an issue i had for a couple years. Maintain with my edge when it gave back poor results. Honestly its still something i have to work at. Sticking to my system and not jumping ship.

thanks

EF
