Grinding it out, day after day

Beautiful work. Quick question, can you claim 1256 blended capital gains tax treatment for Options on Equities? Most of my options experience has been with options on futures which of course is, so curious about options on equities.

I know the guy is good but expecting him to know US tax code as a Canadian seems a bit much.:p

I don't know yet if I'll continue this journal. Things have been pretty boring for the most part. Aside from May 6th and my fat finger, there haven't been any big events all year. Some good dialog though.

Your original motivation for the thread was to maintain and boost your work ethic and discipline, thus helping profitabililty. Did it work as intended?

Corey, or anyone else... Please offer a clue...

Why is it so hard to comprehend? That equity chart isn't anything special for an experienced daytrader.

LOL, nope. Actually, I did make some decent progress on one new strategy, but this thread wasn't the motivation.

LOL x 2 - I needed that.

So Lescor, what's your take on Samoan tax laws and its impact on Cook Islands' economy?

The cynical side of me would say that ET sponsors look for
popular threads for.. cough cough.. exposure. I don't think
he actually cares about taxes. wink wink.

My apologies for asking a serious question.

If you're holding the position for less than a year, it appears to be a short term capital gain, which is taxed at the ordinary rate. Which of course was one of the principal drivers for the push on single stock futures contracts.

And thank you very much, I am well-versed at wiring quarterly estimated tax payments via EFTPS to the United States Department of the Treasury, Division of Internal Revenue.

I understand the concepts of OPG & RTM basket trading relative to std dev; however, what I don't comprehend is the appropriate setups for creating such an equity curve. Many folks have tried and failed miserably with OPG and RTM from 1 or 2 std dev. Therefore, it isn't the strategies that creates success, but having the right timing when applying these strategies.

It's the TIMING that I am challenged with...

thanks,

Walt

Do you realize there are multiple, non-correlated strategies that combine to make that equity chart? I'd suggest TIMING is not the thing that is holding you back from profitability. You sent me a pm a while back asking for some help. I tried pointing you in a certain direction and you came back with "yeah I tried that and it didn't work".

My guess is it's what's going on between your ears that is the key, not what's happening on the screen.
