Great Dance songs from the 80s-90s

Quote from drsteph:

You were either part of it or you weren't...

By the way, the thread is "Dance Songs".

While I guess you can sort of dance to GnR, if you put it on as a DJ in a NYC, LA, or Chi-town nightclub, it would pretty much clear the floor. Trust me. Did something like it a few times myself.

this what i'm talkin about..

Ricky was a young boy
He had a heart of stone
Lived 9 to 5 and worked his
Fingers to the bone

Just barely out of school
Came from the edge of town
Fought like a switchblade
So no one could take him down

He had no money, ooh
No good at home
He walked the streets a soldier
And he fought the world alone
And now it's...

Eighteen and life you got it
Eighteen and life you know
Your crime is time and it's
Eighteen and life to go
Eighteen and life you got it
Eighteen and life you know
Your crime is time and it's
Eighteen and life to go

Tequila in his heartbeat
His veins burned gasoline
It kept his motor runnin'
But he never kept it clean

They say he loved adventure
Ricky's the wild on
He married trouble
Had a courtship with a gun

Bang, bang! Shoot 'em up
the party never ends
You can't think of dying
When the bottle's your best friend
And now it's...

"Accidents will happen"
They all heard Ricky say
He fired his six-shot to the wind
That child blew a child away

EIGHTEEN & LIFE TO GO!
YOUR CRIME IS TIME
:/

I must explain first that I was a big skynard the who and springsteen fan.

pyscho killer (talking heads)
burning down the house out there were the type of music I purchased But if I was out with women dancing

dancin with myself billy idol

b-52s. doing a little mantle diving at the prep frat house to we got kicked out for fliriting with the women.

Now the girls who thought they were cool and edgy, who ventured out to the gay clubs once in a while loved

erasure, the communards or bronski beat. So if I was out with them and heard that music I knew I was going to have fun. Then if forever young came on towards the end of the evening... well I dont even want to think about it.

and then the end of the eighties again out dancing but this time in San Diego, girls wearing body glove dresses and the really tight clothes dancing to

johnny (wont you come on home)
she drives me crazy
and then

pour some sugar on me

San Diego was insane in the late 80s.

is that a bloke or a chick?

long permed and colored/tainted hair, lipstick, mo-hair shinny jumper, and a pack of socks rolled down 'its' pants. hmm

why do you say 'this aint no pansy....' when clearly the individual concerened seemes a little confused over their own sexual identity. seems like a fuckin woofter pansy queer to me i gotta say.

my adise to you is to go cut your hair and grow a moustache like a real man :) then join the marines or become a laborer - maybe even a motorcycle cop or a red indian. that will teach you.

:)

The Village people reference will be, I'm afraid, lost on our friend littledick.(sp?)

M E T A L R O O L Z !!!!

I remember that braindead type back in junior high. It chiefly appealed to dorky 8th grade girls who hadn't quite filled out yet. Come to think of it, even when they were stoners in 12th grade, it still only appealed to the 8th graders.

Industrial/EBM is metal for real men. That stuff will kick your eardrums out and leave you bleeding on the floor.

Random capital's list was great but I would add to it:
1. Front 242 - Headhunter (how can you not include that one)
2. KMFDM - Drug against war
3. Lords of Acid - Sit on my face
4. Clock DVA - the hacker
5. My life with the thrill kill kult - do you fear for your child?

Just so y'all don't think I ain't hard.

Clock dva from 'Advantage':

Chicago Tale

I used to dance at their tunes, I don't know how many would though...

come on this is THE song of the 80/90's (shame they are crap now - mabe its an age thing.....)

ITS THE BEASTIE BOYS - FIGHT FOR YOURE RIGHT....

You wake up late for school
man you don't wanna go
You ask you mom, "Please?"
but she still says, "No!"
You missed two classes
and no homework
But your teacher preaches class
like you're some kind of jerk

Chorus:
You gotta fight for your right to party

You pop caught you smoking
and he said, "No way!"
That hypocrite
smokes two packs a day
Man, living at home is such a drag
Now your mom threw away
your best porno mag (Bust it!)

(Chorus)

Don't step out of this house
if that's the clothes you're gonna wear
I'll kick you out of my home
if you don't cut that hair
Your mom busted in and said,
"What's that noise?"
Aw, mom you're just jealous
it's the Beastie Boys!

(Chorus x2)

"Missing" - Everything But the Girl

Haunting song. The dance mix is really nice, but I can't find it (on iTunes anyway). The video is also nearly perfect too imo, simple but so convincing. This woman is in love...

Who has ever been in love and not felt this way?
