Grasso Resigns As Nyse Chairman

The NYSE specialists will be hard pressed to find someone as unctuous as Dick Grasso. The closest I have seen is the bald Saudi Arabian diplomat that's always on TV (in fact, they even look alike).

unc·tu·ous ( P ) Pronunciation Key (ngkch-s)
adj.
Characterized by affected, exaggerated, or insincere earnestness: “the unctuous, complacent court composer who is consumed with envy and self-loathing” (Rhoda Koenig).
Having the quality or characteristics of oil or ointment; slippery.
Containing or composed of oil or fat.
Abundant in organic materials; soft and rich: unctuous soil.

The Wall Street Journal Online Edition had this poll tonight:

"Do you agree with the NYSE board's decision to seek Dick Grasso's resignation?

Yes 706 votes (71%)
No 293 votes (29%)"

I'm probably missing something here, but it was the "Compensation Committee" that held the urgent special meeting to have Grasso resign, right? Isn't that the same people who approved his pay in the first place? Then is this just same old, same old politics where the committee saves their hide by focusing on one individual to oust? Why didn't they just decide to cut his pay?

Quote from Ebo:

Popularized by GregS's fellow countryman, Mike Meyers on SNL, it is presumed to be Yiddish. But also may come from an older German word. There is a current German verb "klemmen" which means "to wedge." It can also be used in other combinations/compounds to mean "tension." Thus Verkempt (ferklempt, fahrklemt and etc) could mean a "tightness of the heart" as in emotional.

correct...

This is what a verklempt looks like! :D :D
