I am thinking we will have two or three rough days for certain republicans to send some rough messages. Then about Tuesday or Wednesday some continuation thingy. I am not sure what signals the dems are sending to their ducklings. They too would like to see the pubs be the bad boys for a bit. Lots of campaign value there. Then be the saviors by joining in with the McCarthyites. Lots of campaign value there too.

As an aside, I saw CNN reporting on the border situation and one there started moaning about how the Republcians want to shut down funding for these poor hardworking border agents.

Some entertainment and some of it can get serious and disruptive. Additionally, the farm bill and something else of importance expires Sunday night too. So there is a heavier lift than being portrayed.
We know the democrats in the house are going to have to carry the water on this. The real question here is will McCarthy stay speaker.
And variations of that question such as will he remain speaker with Republican votes or "but for dem votes."
The dems were willing to let McCarthy hang and twist in the wind during his initial election as speaker. Not so sure it will be all entertainment now that they have programs they want to pass or keep afloat. They have a dog in the fight now.
It means government people don't have to work but will get paid

In today's edition of out of touch elitist politicians, GOP Rep. Brandon Williams told C-SPAN's Greta Brawner he'll opt to continue receiving pay if the government shuts down because he's not "independently wealthy."
He then told workers who will be furloughed and won't be paid while the government is closed to not expect "a huge amount of sympathy."
After admitting he didn't know how a government shutdown would affect his paycheck and needing Brawner to explain it to him, he was then asked if he would accept his pay if and when a shutdown occurs.
Williams: "I will. You know I am not independently wealthy, and we are like any other family."
Williams, a Wall Street executive, is the son of J. McDonald Williams the former CEO and Chairman of Trammel Crow Company in Dallas, Texas. He has claimed on financial disclosures to be worth $3.1 Million, however because the financial disclosure form allows members to list their assets in ranges, Williams could be worth more than $8 Million.
