The Dow Jones Industrial Average knocked out yet another record on Thursday--or tie it tomorrow--in its nearly breathless rise to new heights.

The Dow on Thursday closed at 25,574.73
The previous record for such a midpoint advance was the move to 24,500 hit on Dec. 12 in a blistering eight sessions for the Dow .

There are no hats emblazoned with 25,500 on Wall Street to commemorate such a move.
Few if any serious investors put much emphasis in the 1,000-point moves in the average much less the midpoint climbs. Moreover, 500-point and 1,000-point swings become less meaningful in percentage terms as the Dow continues its elevator ride to all-time highs.
