Got to say Obama got this one right.

Maybe Obama has also been briefed by our foreign intelligence and believes Kim is on the brink of toppling. Could be another bet that doesn't pay off, but we've done worse.

If he was briefed that, he got a very, very bad briefing from the wrong people. The government has a very tight grip on power there.

I haven't looked at their currency reserves but they sold off most of their gold reserves last year. Last I checked, they were beyond flat broke. I don't think they have enough money to pay for something this sophisticated.

It does not take much money to tempt a disgruntled insider in IT. A mere $250,000 would do. I am sure North Korea can cough up this type of cash. The "hack" was not really that sophisticated - it was a straight forward administrative privilege theft job leaving standard "IT trojan controls" for hijacking and "IT bombs" in place to take down systems ---- leaving the rest of an IT team struggling to get back-ups back on line while cleaning up widespread infected infrastructure. Any half-smart college comp sci major with a couple of books could have done it.

Don't get me started on the incompetence of the Sony IT staff, governance, and practices.

My bad. I didn't look into it closely; just told that it was similar to Stuxnet. If that's the case, then yes, could have easily been done by someone hired by North Korea. North Korea really doesn't have native hacking capabilities; they'd be lucky to get someone there to write a Fortran program for Robbie the Robot to turn left and right.

Can't be! We all know Presidential briefings are entirely 100% accurate and never contain any hidden agendas.
