I worked in Japan from 1996 to 2008 so know it well.
But this time on holiday with my family is so good. The food is better than ever, even at the 7.11s , which are everywhere. Service is excellent and prices are low. We are hiking in mountains, almost everyday, which is great with well posted trails all over.
Yes there was a choice of either strawberry or matcha. We got there just before opening but it filled up quick even though it was off the beaten path. Apparently famous for the taste.
Dang it man, I am living the wrong life!
That's the kind of town I like to live in...more beautiful in the winter too.
Ooops, I did live in a beautiful place like that for many years. Great skiing too.

If you like mountains like I do, you should check out Banff and especially Lake Louise.

Funny you said that....That's my next visit.
Picked up a boat in Alberta and passed through Jasper from and back to BC a few weeks ago. The town and views were quite disappointing to be honest. I remember Banff to be way better, but it's been a long time ago I passed through Banff. Guess I am so spoiled in NW BC that mountains like around Jasper don't quite impress me anymore.
