GOP Hopefuls Losing Ground to Obama Among Latinos



New York – Despite growing disappointment in his handling of immigration issues, Latino voters favor President Barack Obama by six-to-one over any of the Republican presidential hopefuls, showed a Fox News Latino poll conducted under the direction of Latin Insights and released Monday.

The national poll of likely Latino voters indicated that 73 percent of them approved of Obama’s performance in office, with over half those questioned looking favorably upon his handling of the healthcare debate and the economy, at 66 percent and 58 percent respectively.

Released on the eve of the Super Tuesday primaries in the race for the GOP nomination, the Fox News Latino poll shows former Massachusetts Gov. Mitt Romney with 35 percent of Latino voter support, to Texas Rep. Ron Paul's 13 percent, former Speaker of the House Newt Gingrich's 12 percent, and former Pennsylvania Sen. Rick Santorum's 9 percent.

But the poll shows that the overwhelming choice among likely Latino voters is President Obama. In head-to-head match-ups none of the GOP candidates would garner more than 14 percent of the Latino vote come November, the poll said.

"This is what we're seeing across the country," said Gabriela Domenzain, Obama campaign spokesperson. "The more Latinos learn about the candidates, the more they reject them."

Caught-up in the throes of a bitterly contested primary season, the GOP hopefuls seem to be losing traction among Latino voters.

While the poll indicates that four of five Latinos who voted for Obama in 2008 would vote for him later this year, Latinos who voted for Republican Arizona Sen. John McCain four years ago are now divided between voting for Obama and the Republican candidates. Forty percent said that they favored Obama while 38 percent said they would vote for Romney. Obama also leads Santorum 38 percent to 34, and Gingrich 40 percent to 38.

McCain grabbed 31 percent of the overall Hispanic vote.

In the poll, his approval rating stands at 50%-45%, his highest mark in the NBC/WSJ survey since Osama bin Laden’s death. What’s more, he leads Romney by six points, 50%-44%, winning independents (46%-39%), women (55%-37%), suburban women (46%-44%), and those in the Midwest (52%-42%). Obama enjoys bigger leads over Paul (50%-42%), Santorum (53%-39%), and Gingrich (54%-37%). Bolstering Obama’s standing is increased optimism about the state of the U.S. economy: 40% believe the economy will improve during the next year, and 57% say the worst is behind us (versus 36% who say the worst is still ahead). Peter Hart, the Democratic half of our NBC/WSJ survey, sums up the current poll’s outlook on the 2012 race: If it were a cocktail, it would be “one part Obama, one part the economy, and three parts the Republican Party’s destruction.”

Democrat's job is to make us feel guilty about slavery, not supporting men that like to f%^k each other's hairy stinking @s^holes, not giving up our jobs so women and illegals can have them, not wanting to support every hungry child that is impoverished due to the overspending and over welfaring, make us accept it that public sector workers should be paid about twice what the average private sector works is expected to get by on, to raise taxes so they can redistribute money to people that aren't even citizens, that kind of thing...

I can't take anybody on the Left seriously. They believe in extortion via the political process and I'd rather see people work and be productive. I can't take anybody on the Right seriously because they think it's ok for government to kick somebody's door in, shoot their dogs, traumatize their children and confiscate all their property without even a hearing. War on Drugs, yeah right, War on the Bill of Rights is what it is.

It's just entertaining to see the different personality types here holding forth with their opinions. I don't see much noble character really, possibly far less noble character from the people on the Left than on the Right and far less ability to think clearly and reason from people on the Left.. The people on the left just seem like pathetic whiners determined to just wear down the opposition with stupid irrational arguments and demands and the people on the right seem sort of... like control freaks that can't let freedom happen because they want predictability more than freedom...

The US is in the last stages of a complete meltdown, no politicians are going to be able to stop that. They have been sending us in that direction for decades, why think that they will stop now? At the last budget impasse nothing at all was accomplished with regard to the debt situation and all the MSM outlets were blaming the... drum roll........ Tea Party!! They blamed the Tea Party for the impasse when it was just business as usual, kicking the can down the road!

A person could watch CSPAN or read the funny papers, it would be about the same...

Reagan/ Bush tripled the national debt . Bush 2 doubled the national debt, left a 1.2 trillion dollar deficit and trillions more in future medical spending on wounded Vets from his wars.Considering thats a lot more then what is spent on welfare I have a bigger problem with The GOP
