Stanford University will introduce a course this fall which will task students with considering “abolishing whiteness” and the ultimate goal of understanding “what is the future of whiteness,” according to the institution’s course catalog.

It's not bigotry when the left does it.

A columnist for The New York Times has called upon Google CEO Sundar Pichai to resign following the controversial dismissal of former employee James Damore. Damore was fired from his position at Google this week after publishing a viewpoint diversity manifesto, which examined reasons why there are fewer women in tech jobs and called for more ideological diversity in Google’s workplace. In a memo, Google CEO Sundar Pichai claimed Damore had advanced “harmful gender stereotypes in our workplace,” despite the fact that numerous psychologists, male and female, deemed the manifesto to be scientifically accurate. “There are many actors in the...

Damore was fired for stating an opinion that was scientifically accurate.

So the left are the real science deniers.

Private companies can hire and fire anyone they want. Similarly customers can boycott any company they want due to their hiring and firing policies.

Fair enough, I don't see the outrage in this case (guy distributed a manifesto on why half the population is less deserving due to biological inadequacy) but you're welcome to use your money as you wish.

I have already taken the position that if an employee distributes a manifesto like this in nearly any U.S. company (not any Google) they can expect to be fired. If people in the public object to the firing then they are free to boycott the company if they wish. Welcome to the free market.

Not accurate. There are laws protecting employees that cover virtually every leftwing activist group. The only people not so protected are white males. Immigrants who have been here one day have more legal protection than people whose ancestors came over on the Mayflower.

California law protects employees from arbitrary termination. One can hardly imagine a more arbitrary termination than one brought on by reciting scientific findings in a naïve reliance on the company's stated policy of encouraging dissent

Comments from the elegant pen of Mr. Porter:

Though, as in all facets of diversity, the blasphemy wasn’t in what was said, but what was concluded.

For instance, two men can both say jews are the source of America’s liberal metastasis. Yet until each commits to whether that is a bad thing or good, we don’t know if they are a vile anti-semitic hate blogger or the Vice President of the United States. It’s not what you see, but what you think.

So it is with “minorities,” BLTs, and now (quite myopically on their part) women. Everyone is different from white men. One simply must conclude that difference mandates fewer white men. Thus the true conflict between Google HR and Mr. Damore was between the following positions:

Men and women are different. That’s why we should make a point of hiring women over men.

Men and women are different. That’s why we should not make a point of hiring women over men.

Obviously you can see how one of these perpetuated gender stereotypes.

Though in broader–and more relevant–scope Google’s dismissal of what appears to have been a productive and phenomenally intelligent employee was nothing more than the continuation of the left’s culture war (which is itself a facet of the ancient tribal war). A Google shareholder might be aghast to learn the company is willing to jettison its top talent in favor of maintaining strict leftist orthodoxy. But most of those shareholders aren’t making management decisions. The people who are making them couldn’t give a shit less about share price when it competes against their religion. Muslims don’t let Christians into Mecca, and progs don’t let conservatives on their campus.

99% of the commentary I have read on this event from the right has focused on the bad-faith and hypocrisy of liberals in general and Google in particular. And though it is both those things, the point is fairly moot. War is not a good-faith enterprise. Google did not fire James Damore for failure to perform his job-related responsibilities. It fired him for being an enemy behind the lines. Thus my frustration at this firing is less with Google, whom I know wants me off the Earth, than with the pathetic accommodation on the mainstream right of the left’s own infiltrators.

There's an anti-trust division of the Dept of Justice and what do we have to show for it?

They broke up Standard Oil. What are they doing now?

Microsoft must fit in there somewhere, too.

We have an anti trust division because liberals wanted one. I bet they don't want one now.

The Dept of Justice should take action.
