Google fires the engineer who wrote that viral memo criticizing its diversity efforts

Interesting conflict that cuts both ways for all involved. The PC Nazi's once again demonstrated their power and willingness to destroy anyone who dissents. However, the fact that the memo writer was obviously correct in his thesis makes then look like bullies. It also called into question GOOG's ethics and principles, an important issue for a company people trust to relay accurate information to them.

For conservatives, another dilemma arose. The "true" conservatives will fall back on first principles and say that a company has to be allowed to choose whom it employs and to insist that they parrot the company line, even if it is idiotic. The alt-right will see it, accurately, as a crude attempt at suppression of wrong thinking. They are already mocking the memo writer for getting fired over such a groveling attempt at dissent ( " I value diversity" etc). To them, it proves that there is no point in trying to reach common ground based on reason and facts.

An interesting side note this week. AirBnB has admitted that it terminated the accounts of customers who attempted to book rooms for an alt-right conference in Charlottesville. Lawsuits are brewing over this.

This appears to be part of a coordinated silicon valley attack on the alt-right. Companies such as Pay Pal, youtube and patreon have attempted to shut off funding for groups or individuals they disagree with, raising possible legal issues. Twitter has received a barrage of criticism for harassment of alt-right accounts, ranging from termination, eg Milo, to suspensions to fiddling with the counting of retweets.

One would have to be a suicidal fool to get into a self-driving car under the control of the freakshows exposed by the #GoogleManifesto.pic.twitter.com/EdIlExAU0y
