I just posted this cause the volatility of the market right after close shocked me (actually i did profit from it but not much compared to the move)!

I think they do that to take out the stops. It happens everytime Google anounces earnings. For instance last quarter the stock dropped 20 points in the first 2s, took out a bunch of stops, and then jumped 30 points.

It's amazing to watch how much it swings in seconds.

Or just get more gamblers to buy soon to be worthless options.
