Was hairy for awhile Wed night to Thursday morning. We're east of Tampa, so we had some really strong gusts - 80/90mph and of course lost power. There's a massive, call it 60ft oak in the front of my house, and the house faces north. The wind was blowing from the north so it was blowing at the giant tree towards the house all night and I'm just standing in my front porch window watching the damn thing sway baaaack and foorrrth all night going "shit, if this thing cracks, my pals on ET (and the shitbirds like Mono) will never know what happened to me.
But it stood. The house had no damage at all, I guess dropping 40k on new, upgraded roof back in May was a good idea. Since the lanai was on the southern side, nothing happened to it either. No screens were ruined, the pool was fine, all the palms did well. A few houses in the neighborhood had trees down, one against one of the house. I spent the day after helping neighbors clear their yards and driveways of debris (after waking early to do my own with my boy).
Power went out Wed night, and didn't come back on until Saturday evening - but we have a whole house generator so we were golden. Other than that, the office - which was supposed to be in evac zone A never lost power and never flooded (water left the bay, didn't come into it because of the storm change).
So that makes Irma and Ian. I'm a vet, I guess! Thanks for the well wishes to those classy enough to do so (looking at you, Usualname and Snarky - you're ok in my book!)
