It is a red herring. Who the hell cares. It is an internal Ukrainian matter. They deal with it. The Jewish President and the Jewish Defense Minister deal with it. Using that as a "provocation" for a military invasion is absolutely and utterly ridiculous and anyone who swallows that piece of Russian propaganda is an idiot.
Let's say Mexico has some extreme right winger or the cartels or whatever in the government. A freaking Nazi. Mexico is not attacking the US, there are no cross-border incursions, no one is shooting into US cities, no terrorists are sent from Mexico to the US. Would US be justified to invade Mexico and change the government there?

The short risk is they replace Putin. Super risky...but if some of the red square ivory tower realizes that Russia takes decades to fully recover from all this...it could happen. Slim chances but I couldn't go to sleep tonight being short. That would be one of those "rip your face off" rallies that we get when the totally unexpected happens.

I think it would have reasonable for him to just recognize the independence of Donbass in the majority Russian ethnic areas.
I think he underestimated the resistance he would face in Ukraine. And it's scary that NATO is doing everything short of putting boots on the ground while Russia is in such a desperate situation.
What's the difference between having a NATO pilot in a NATO jet.... Or handing the keys to the NATO jet to a Ukrainian pilot? It's the same thing.
