Actually, there is a centralized mechanism for getting this vaccine. I am a Pediatrician, and I believe the only way to get the vaccine is through the CDC. Also, according to this article in Forbes, http://www.forbes.com/2009/10/27/swine-flu-vaccine-lifestyle-health-h1n1-shortage.html, NY state has the fewest doses available in the country. AND, the government is providing it free. In my county, the only places to get it are the Public health department, and the 2 big health systems, Kaiser and Sutter. So, if GS has it, it is because the government wanted them to have it.
I guess Goldman Sachs traders are very, very special.
