Yes, I've checked the list of ingredients. I've also read the peer-reviewed research on thimerosal conducted over the last two decades. My wife is also 6 months away from being a licensed medical doctor.
I have zero concerns. Well, more accurately, 0.0001% concern.
I know the odds are far greater that my children will be killed by H1N1-induced encephalitis (or a drunk driver on the way to the flu clinic), than the odds of them developing any of the potential side-effects. It's a no-brainer.
PS. As it happens, we got the single dose pediatric version from Sanofi Pasteur. I wouldn't have blinked if it was the multi-dose.
Quote from heech:
Not to defend the Huffpo... but just wanted to point out there are many, many children in hospitals very sick from diseases other than H1N1. And they're certainly at very high risk, from H1N1.
In the clinic line with me was a mom with a 5 year old son with a major heart defect, and who's pediatrician couldn't get him the H1N1 vaccine. He told them to get in the 4 hour line with the rest of us.
Quote from dealmaker:
It turns out they ordered their H1N1 flu shots before the so called hospitals; that's called vision and should be praised. Go beat on the hospitals and other health agencies who are in the business of health and did not have the vision.
Goldman is getting beat on no matter what, just too much envy out there.
Quote from Lethn:
This swine flu is nothing more than a fu**ing scare tactic. Half the people they're trying to give it too don't even need it and the only ones who have died are extremely young or pregnant or have underlying causes.
I'm vaguely reminded of the way the government and media paraded around about violent video games when pretty much 100% of the people involved in incidents to do with games already had underlining psychological problems.
I'm getting seriously sick of this fear mongering bs our politicians keep touting and I think ordinary people are too.
