What is the running cost of storing gold bullions? Assuming you don't keep them under your bed or relay investment bakers who don't actually buy any gold on your behalf and instead buy gold futures.

100 $ a year will rent you a safe that could store at least 500 ounces or so, at least where I live.

Sounds like a really good deal. A few questions:
1) Is the safe gonna be in a bank or a similarly well-guarded location
2) Does this include any kind of insurance that would cover armed robbery and the like?

It's in a bank probably. I am sure there are more specialized locations than that but obviously the fee rises with the level of specialisation.

Bank safes are insured but the actual specifics on that depend on the location ofcourse.

Thanks for prompt reply!

Not to be a pain in the lower back... do you store some valuables yourself and just don't care if they are a bank? Or is the price based on an ad you haven't followed up?

I live in Europe so I have no idea on how these things work in the US but over here every single bank office has a space where you can rent safes at very reasonable cost.

I take it you might be sceptical of hiring a safe at a bank out of fear of confiscation?

No, more in a fear of riots. I asked whether it was a bank because you had written "a bank probabbly".

The probably was there because there are specialized places for this, but personally I am not aware of the specifics on those.

Cheers.
