Trump is such a troll master. Now the media will spend the week defending a bunch of overpaid thug football players against a populist president who only asked that they stop disrespecting our flag. The league and some owners and players replies to Trump are basically lies. We know very well that if players were protesting gay marriage or illegal immigration, they would be quickly suspended. As in other PC-controlled environments, ie most of the country now, your right to free expression is heavily dependent upon which side you are supporting. You can ask Curt Schilling about that if you doubt me. He was canned by ESPN because he tweeted that he didn't want grown men posing as women to be allowed into the same bathroom his daughter used.

I see the certain vocal elements of the left as the dividers. I suppose when one party loses an election and does not have a viable platform, they have to do something to appear relevant.

With the exception of newly relocated Rams and Chargers playing in temporary stadiums The NFL doesn't have half empty stadiums.
Last season's Superbowl was also the most watched ever.
