I completely agree with you here. The problem (as I see) it is that I've supplied you with thousands of supporting evidences to which most of your responses have not been academic in nature, but rather not considering actual evidence because of your prejudiced belief that you need not consider anything in the Bible based on the logic that you can't trust the Bible if it's the Bible that tells you so. Or you side-step the issues I've tried to discuss by making lots of accusations.
What about the evidence I presented that the Isaiah scrolls, as well as the other dead sea scrolls, validated the Isaiah prophecies and many of the other books that prophesied of Jesus? Using well-accepted dating methods the copies of the original manuscripts have been dated to at least 100 years before Jesus was born. This is significant, because if a copy is dated to at least 100 years before Jesus, then the original works of these books would have necessarily have been written much earlier than these copies. These give descriptions of Jesus that simply could not have happened by chance.
Consider this: Is there any other religion that comes close to comparing with the Biblical God's proclamation that He declares the end from the beginning? No other religions have as many clear prophesies describing events that took place at a future time, or will take place at a future time of the nature that the prophecies either come true or they don't. These are specific prophecies: An Everlasting One would be born in Bethlehem. One would come as a sin-bearer. At different times I've listed hundreds of these prophecies, mostly concerning Jesus, but there are more that were fulfilled about other subject matters that I've barely touched on. What other "god" is bold enough to say that if the thing that is prophesied does not come to pass, then that prophet is not sent by God? Scripture is very clear in portraying God as One who cannot lie. So God really did put Himself out there to be able to be scrutinized by skeptics in hope that they will seek and find Him, that He does what He says He will do and He is Who He says that He is.
So, you want to turn a blind eye to the prophecies that Jesus fulfilled? Well, you're in luck because we are now at a time in history where there are many prophecies for this time period that are beginning to become fulfilled. If you don't find them in the Scriptures to see them happening, then it's likely you won't even recognize them when they do. Some of them I've found on my own (meaning just from reading on my own, not like someone had to point them out to me before I saw it.)
Here are some prophecies that you might get to watch be fulfilled in your lifetime, possibly very soon. I'm showing a few that I came across on my own Bible reading, which I have looked up and verified that others have found them too:
1. Daniel 7:23 talks about a one world government that will be worse than any other kingdom that has existed. Out of this comes the Antichrist ("and another shall arise after them...") NOTE: this is nothing new, but the part that I found on my own was that this government exists before the Antichrist begins his terror reign. It's easy to see this if you read the entire chapter carefully, but this minor detail wasn't something I heard taught, or if I did, I didn't realize it, until after I came across it myself.
there shall be a fourth kingdom on earth,
which shall be different from all the kingdoms,
and it shall devour the whole earth,
and trample it down, and break it to pieces.
As for the ten horns,
out of this kingdom ten kings shall arise,
and another shall arise after them;
he shall be different from the former ones,
and shall put down three kings.
25 He shall speak words against the Most High,
and shall wear out the saints of the Most High. Daniel 7:23
2. There will one day be a robotic army that can scale walls as described in Joel 2:
3 Before them fire devours,
behind them a flame blazes.
Before them the land is like the garden of Eden,
behind them, a desert waste—
nothing escapes them.
4 They have the appearance of horses;
they gallop along like cavalry.
5 With a noise like that of chariots
they leap over the mountaintops,
like a crackling fire consuming stubble,
like a mighty army drawn up for battle.
6 At the sight of them, nations are in anguish;
every face turns pale.
7 They charge like warriors;
they scale walls like soldiers.
They all march in line,
not swerving from their course.
8 They do not jostle each other;
each marches straight ahead.
They plunge through defenses
without breaking ranks.
9 They rush upon the city;
they run along the wall.
They climb into the houses;
like thieves they enter through the windows.
3. There will be an event that takes place while it is night in one area and daytime in another. Isn't this proof enough that Jesus is God? He spoke this prophecy. Who else, living in that time period would have known that there is night and day simultaneously on this earth?
Luke 17:34 I tell you, in that night there will be two in one bed. One will be taken and the other left.
35 There will be two women grinding together. One will be taken and the other left.
And here are some that are well known:
1. There will be an event that many from around the world will view. Although it could simply mean there were representatives of many nations that passed by to observe this locally, the verse makes a lot more sense when we understand how technology has made it possible for people on every continent to simultaneously watch a single event.
Those from the peoples, tribes, languages, and nations will look at their dead bodies for three and a half days, and will not allow their dead bodies to be laid in a tomb. And those who live on the earth will rejoice over them and celebrate... Revelation 11:9:10a NASB
2. God said that He would bring back the nation of Israel after being scatter across the earth. I'm not aware of any other religion making such a prophecy or fulfilling that prophecy after 2,000 years.
I will bring you back to the land of Israel. Then you, my people, will know that I am the Lord... Ezekiel 37:12b, 13a
3. There will be a temple built in Israel that the Antichrist will defile. There are several prophecies about this event, and it triggers some of the worst times the world will know:
4 He will oppose and will exalt himself over everything that is called God or is worshiped, so that he sets himself up in God’s temple, proclaiming himself to be God.
4. Finally, God intervenes and returns to rule over the earth and then comes the beautiful prophecies that finally there will be peace on earth and God will be known. Until the very end, at which point...well, go read the book of Revelation to find the rest of the story.
No longer will they teach their neighbor, or say to one another, ‘Know the LORD,’ because they will all know me, from the least of them to the greatest,” declares the LORD. “For I will forgive their wickedness and will remember their sins no more.” Jeremiah 31:34
These prophecies may end up happening sooner than you think. And Stu, I hope that you will be one who will be among those who get to see Jeremiah 31:34 take place.
And one last thing, these are just the prophecies that came to mind as I sat down to write this. There are many, many more prophecies yet to be fulfilled. Some of them name specific countries and events that will take place concerning them. Some have specific details of events that will happen during the Antichrist's reign. Some have specific details of things that will happen during the Messiah's reign. These things are given to us beforehand so that people can know, without a shadow of doubt, that the God of the Bible is the only True God.
If you are sincerely "Questioning with legitimate reason why the Bible cannot be true" then I suggest you start a personal study of Bible prophecy. Weigh the ones that have been fulfilled with those that have not yet been fulfilled. Try to find prophecies that are invalidated, meaning it is not possible for them to be fulfilled. For example, if the Bible said that God was to be born in Bethlehem and then He was actually born in Russia, then that would be the kind of thing that would invalidate a prophecy. If you find any, I'd like to hear about it.
