I use the word more than anybody here. You "should" know to stay in your lane, but many here do not (know) and therefore are worthy of being referred to as retarded.
I take issue with specificity... I think it wildly inappropriate to refer to someone by a specific genetic abnormality (Down's) which ofc the individuals afflicted have no control over their condition. IOW, you'd never walk up to someone in public and berate them for a genetic condition out of their control. It would be pure psycho shit. I can tell you stories...

i got into the habit of calling people "autist" a few years ago as a general joking insult...
im a member of a local gun forum where i was using the term pretty frequently...I got a PM from a long term member who is a high ranking 3 gun shooter and gunsmith and had helped me out with a benelli shotgun in the past...cool guy all around.
he asked what the term autist meant...i told him like a put down for people who say dumb sh!t...he said "so basically it has taken the place of retarded as a put down" and i say yea why...he said his son who was a toddler at the time was just diagnosed with autism and he and his wife were depressed over the deal and reading my comments made him feel like shit...he didn't get mad at me just basically was saying damn i feel really bad now and sad about my son's challenges the shit he is going to have to overcome etc...
I've never felt like a bigger piece of shit in my entire life. I apologized and made a thread about how people on forums tend to joke around loosely as though they were around close friends...but the problem is we really don't know much about each other's private life and might consider toning down the harshness, etc...
