And they just feel like selling electric cars now with everybody choking on SMOG and getting skin cancer by just walking on the street. And they are still not selling this $5K car in the rest of the world because???!!!...

A good example of US crapitalism ?

The range is small. A wet night and it is probably about half the given mileage.

Tesla selling $US1.5b in junk bonds to fund Model 3 production

http://www.afr.com/business/transpo...ds-to-fund-model-3-production-20170807-gxrbp0

Elon Musk-led Tesla is counting on the Model 3, its least pricey car, to become a profitable, mass market manufacturer of electric cars.

Tesla said last week that it had 455,000 net pre-orders for the Model 3, which has a $US35,000 base price, and that the sedan was averaging 1800 reservations per day since it launched late last month.

At the launch, Musk, however, warned that Tesla would face months of "manufacturing hell" as it increases production of the sedan.

Tesla had over $US3 billion in cash on hand at the end of the June quarter, compared with $US4 billion as of the previous quarter and $US3.25 billion a year earlier.

The company has said it expects capital expenditures of $US2 billion in the second half of this year to boost production at its Fremont, California assembly plant and a battery plant in Reno, Nevada.

Tesla's cash burn has prompted short-sellers like Greenlight Capital's David Einhorn to bet against the Palo Alto, California company.

Musk said last week the company was considering debt to expand cash on hand.

That this is not available in the USA shows just how callous corporations are:

They do sell it in the US. My daughter had one, it is manufactured by Mattel. GM may be a lot of things but they aren't stupid, and they know a car like that won't sell in the US.

It's a short distance town car, not suited for the USA or even UK/EU markets and without the incentives it's a nearly 15K car, which no body would pay for, it only works due to incentives.

Do as a 2nd car, my average daily mileage is sub 50miles so should be okay for 90% of my days.
