Quote from MRWSM:
Sorry if I was a bit harsh
'harsh' isn't exactly the right word
I believe people should buy whatever they want with their own money. Nobody should tell them what to buy, but it seems for 99% of all foreign vehicle owners that it's not enough that they are buying foriegn vehicles but they also need to put down the big three at the same time.
Your interpretation of our statements about the big 3 as a 'putdown' shows your emotional attachment to the topic. To say that the big 3 can't match the foreign maker in terms of this or that standard of quality evaluation or business efficiency is not a 'putdown'. It is an attempt to quantify the differences between the companies and arrive at an informed decision about where to invest. You cited a GM commercial as 'proof' that the big 3 can compete with the foreign makers. No matter what you get out of this, I would strongly, strongly suggest that you drop that argument. It doesn't really make any sense.
I hear this from idots who know absolutely nothing about cars say foriegn cars are better.
You use the term 'idiots' pretty freely. Just wanted to let you know - it undermines your credibility a lot
BTW When Toyota, Honda etc. not only bring some assembly work to make us happy but also bring their entire engineering and executives to the US and become US company's that's when they can compare with the amount of benefit of being here.
This is the weirdest thing you have said so far, if I am understanding you correctly, although this sentence is a bit vague.
Why on earth would they want to do that? If I trade on a dial up connection using a computer with 128M of RAM, and Metastock RT, and I don't do as well, do I say
'Oh yeah, let the guy with the Bloomberg terminal and the TT try to trade with MY setup and THEN see how he does'.
Instead of calling people idiots, why not suggest ways in which you think the big 3 US auto manufactureres could close the gap? As I said earlier, there is nothing I have seen so far that says that GM
must go bankrupt. It all depends on the leadership and brains in the management team and whether or not they are able to make tough decisions.
I don't see Kerkorian's involvement as a confirmation of GMs ability to make better cars than the foreign makers. Kerkorian obviously knows what he's doing, and most of us probably can't figure it out.
Oh yeah, just one more suggestion for you. I would also drop the 'I used to own a 740iL but I switched to a 2000 Bonneville' argument.
