You got that right, gubbermint should stay out of the charity business.
I don't share their religion.
I go to Catholic church and grew up Catholic and I am not sure I disagree with Beck.
I believe the church should be teaching charity not socialism.
Particularly in South America where it has been shown not to work over and over.
Liberals are destroying the church like everywhere else.
The seminaries become liberal and within a generation we had a core of gay, molesters pretending to be priests and bishops.
I am not saying the liberals were the molesters. I am saying the problem is that liberals cause a lack of judgment.
When people are afraid to make judgments - you let a bunch of creeps into the seminaries.

It's whatever each of us can do to be helpful and harmless as a step toward the acceptance of the justice of Go(o)d. The justice of Go(o)d would give everyone everything. I mean this as a matter of fact, not metaphor. This is harder to accept when one is not being helpful and harmless. Helpfulness and harmlessness are concepts best left to a Guide and/or Goodshepherd, who judges in the best interests of anyone/everyone with a grasp of total knowledge. Often, what we think may be helpful may not be. Likewise, it may not be harmless. Man does not know what is most helpful/harmless. For example, it's most helpful/harmless to not see bodies at all. Rather, if everyone saw Christ in their neighbor, there would be no problems in the world. Seeing Christ in others is to "love your neighbor as your self". You see your Self, as a matter-of-fact. This is the most powerful antidote to the world's problems, able to heal minds and bodies. It's a way of giving. It's the most valuable gift anyone can give to another, the gift of true Identity. Everyone is capable of giving it to anyone. Each one's salvation depends on giving it. Give it to all and recieve your own Identity back...the totality of everything. Only at this level (everyone owns everything) can what ails the world be solved. This is everyone's original inheritance, tossed away to gain "the whole world". And in gaining the world, everyone lost everything. Give it back! Give it back to everyone. This is the justice of Go(o)d. Anything else is a form of self-deprivation (sacrifice), and falls short of the glory of Go(o)d.

It has to do with the rise in popularity of the huge, and hugely profitable, "prosperity evangelical" protestant churches. The TV and multi-media types that have up to 10 individual channels on Direct TV.
It far more historic than that.
It goes to back to the protestant revolution.
Protestants revolted against others making decisions for them.
Luther's point was that you don not need someone else to tell you what the bible means. The individual could determine what the bible means and how he would react to that teaching on his own. It was the core thought of self determination.
It dovetailed perfectly into the American Revolution. We don't need monarchs or big governments to tell us what to do. We don't need kings taxing the shit out of us.
We will provide a platform for individual merit and we we provide charity ourselves.
Democracy goes with Capitalism - It stems from the freedom to choose where and to worship.
Social Justice goes with big government making decisions and telling you how not to worship. It is only one stepped removed from communism.
