Give up my guns?

I still think there is a major problem with how guns are manufactured and sold in society. I don't advocate an outright ban because I respect the 2d amendment but if you asked my personal opinion, ownership should be limited to a few classes of handguns and hunting rifles. I am not sure assault rifles are anything else but toys people like to fire in ranges, I doubt they would whip out and load an AR15 if someone was attacking them in a bus station or is needed to kill a deer. If I could change anything I would make assault rifles and large magazine guns be treated as liquor in lockers at restaurants. You can buy and own one but it must be stored at a gun shop/range under lock and you can go and shoot it there anytime.

I live in a concealed carry state and all of those people I know who are licensed are people I would never worry about owning a handgun. Because all they own is a handgun for personal safety. They are not loading up on 10 rifles with high powered magazines. However, the number of times a mass shooting was committed by someone who was loading up on guns and ammo with no red lights going off or had unblocked access to someone else's gun is ridiculous.

You want your handgun and hunting rifle...fine. But when you want assault rifles with large loaded magazines and the ability to buy 500 rounds or own 10 high powered weapons at once, then society should have a say. This is the easy middle ground but the NRA and left will never meet there.

You're close. But all handguns should be banned. Too easily concealed. If one can't defend the home with say, ten shotguns and rifles .........

Only long guns with limited internal magazines should be legal. Assault rifles are simply too lethal.

Dumb racist savages. "He tried to take my three dollars so I killed him. Isn't that great? .........

Hope this never happens to you FC; but what are you going to do if its kill or be killed??
Pretend that a killer will not kill you+ what if the killer asks ''did you call me be a racist savage??''
But he kills regardless of answer; simply because he is a killer + has a pattern of killing!!!!!

Robbers are people too, you know. Can you imagine how stressful it is must be for a robber knowing that his intended victim may be carrying? Worse yet, the person who may shoot him may actually get away with it?

Thank God there are understanding politicians in the Democratic Party that understands the plight of robbers and, for that matter, drug dealers.

Criminality is currently a high risk profession that needs Government intervention to make it safer. The statistics show horrifying injury or death rates of criminals who attack armed citizens and police officers. Something must be done about this tragedy immediately. Fortunately, progress has been made in Progressive communities where those charged with many types of crimes that don’t involve weapon use no longer have to be held up in jail while awaiting trial. In ideal situations, one can continue where they left off in a few hours of arrest. In the future, maybe even the discrimination between weapon vs no weapon use will be overcome. Even more encouraging is the faster voting right reinstatement supported by Democrats for fellow ex-felons. Our votes can make a difference.

With rights likes these, why would anyone ever want to go straight?

Greatfully for us criminals, the fruit does not fall far from the tree. Now Democratic and other Progressive politicians, go confiscate those guns and make America safe for criminals for a change.

Good wise points + sarcasm Max; but not all Dems are anti 2nd ammendment/NRA/NRA-ILA. At least those that get re-elected.LOL-LOL:caution::caution::caution::caution::caution:,:caution::caution:.Making progress; Smith & Wesson improved the six shooter into a 7 shooter.

Great. Let me know when you manage to get the bad guys to give up all their hand guns. I'll happily consider it then.

Until then, piss off.

I think you would like Canada's sensible gun laws. They are uniform throughout the provinces, unlike U.S. laws that vary from state to state. Basically Canada's laws allow reasonably easy access to guns used for sporting purposes but restrict access to guns easily concealed or useful for killing numbers of people in a short time. You can find Canada's gun laws on Wiki.

This argument belies a certain naivety and lack of logical thinking. One has to look at gun regulation in terms of probabilities, rather than anecdotes, slogans, or improbable circumstances. .

Well this is one reason we will still have a strong debate because the federal government somehow backed off this issue (makes no sense since almost every other thing that crosses state lines is regulated under the ICC or various other laws) and let the States create a hodgepodge of laws where a protection that seems to work in one state is circumvented by simply going next door.

Sorry, I don't leave my family's safety up to probabilities.

You're the one who is incredibly naive. You would be disarming people living in areas where they absolutely need the protection of a firearm. Or did you intend to give exemptions?

There is a strong probability that criminals and thugs will prey on disarmed citizens.

That's all you need to know.

Pretty sad that you can't defend your family with shotguns and rifles.
