Think about what is being said, and think about how you would go about making your as yet unknown felon afraid of you. Arm everyone with a glock I suppose. think about the practicality of that. It is a logical tautology to observe that people who commit violent crimes are not deterred by the specter of the possible consequences. The only thing that has been proven effective in reducing the probability of violent crimes is to deny access to the means of committing them. The effectiveness of laws and consequences is supposition and guesswork.
The most effective means of reducing the probability of being a victim of a violent crime is to move off of a Dem Plantation.
When I wrote that I was thinking specifically of the laws intended to punish those who commit violent crimes. To be clear, I should have written, " The effectiveness of laws and consequences intended to deter future crimes by punishing those who have committed a crime is supposition and guesswork."
