The Kurds are a distinct ethnic group with their own language and customs and should be given back the bits stolen by their neighbours over the centuries.
NATO could encourage Turkey to return their large bit of Kurdistan. They are fighting ISL too and on the ground.

I agree, beggars can't be choosers, and right now USA is begging for another ally in the middle east. Kurds are not perfect, but who of us are?
 
The Turks themselves would be much better off without the bomb attacks within Turkey as at present if they were to give the Kurds their freedom, which they deserve fighting ISL.

Now is a good time to smash the ISL lot while the US still has some support in the ME and ISL are spread out and isolated. Left to fester they would grow stronger and infect the moderates presently wobbling like a load of jellies.
