Gilead Sciences (GILD)...Remdesivir and Covid

My wife and I have held this stock before Covid-19. We liked the mix of products on the table and phase 2 & 3 trials in their pipeline. Also a good dividend. I believe this drug was given to president Trump when he was in the hospital with Covid.

No politics here. It hit a yearly high today. May have an oral form that "could" be used in the future. With most of my stocks down today...One bright spot.

The problem with Remdesivir was that it had to be taken as an IV in an inpatient basis. Thats why it was good for the early days of the pandemic but never really sold as well as it could have if it was simply an oral treatment. [Information from my old roommate who was on the frontlines as head of Internal Medicine in the Van Nuys Kaiser in Southern California]

If the oral works it would be a blockbuster drug. I think Pfizer & Merck are also working on oral treatments for Covid-19.

I think all the large Pharma stocks have been on a tear for the last few weeks. BioNTech, Moderna & Novavax are also up a lot since then. I think the XLV was up about 1% today so that probably helps.
