Getting back to a normal sleep cycle?

Have you had any experience taking kratom?

I guess the problem of using it as a sleep aid is that if you miscalculate the dosage you end up with a bunch of energy and you will hit the gym at 1 am.
Since "a stimulant (at low doses), sedative (at high doses)", I guess one just needs to keep taking more until the energy sleeps away.

Kratom is dirt cheap if you buy it online. I have just ordered 250g for $25 + $6 shipping. For pain taking 10g/day is plenty so you get about $1/day pain killer/sleep aid/rec drug.

That is why the government/big pharma want to shut it down. Who likes competition?

I've been taking benadryl nightly for years and haven't experienced any negative side effects that I know of.

Don't you get used to it? I thought people need to cycle it.

Maybe you just forgot about the side effects: :)

"researchers offers compelling evidence of a link between long-term use of anticholinergic medications like Benadryl and dementia."

https://www.health.harvard.edu/blog...l-linked-increased-dementia-risk-201501287667

"Taking an anticholinergic for the equivalent of three years or more was associated with a 54% higher dementia risk than taking the same dose for three months or less."

I've had good results using Unisom when my sleep gets out of whack. It's over the counter and non habit forming.

So I've had the misfortune of working Asian hours for the last year and a half (markets open at 7 and close at 2-3am). Finally, after a bunch of dry-fires, I have picked up a junior monkey who is going to take over the night shift (*).

The only problem is that I seem to have a problem switching back to the normal cycle. I end up staying awake, answering emails, writing code, thinking about ideas - anything but falling asleep. I tried the old hacker wrap-around, when you force yourself to wake up at a normal time so you tired by the time you go to bed. Did not work, I slept from 10 to 7 the first night, but next night I was back to 3:30 asleep-time. So, what do I do? I am sure people who work irregular hours (pilots? nurses?) have hacked this problem successfully.

* oddly enough, she likes the whole upside-down day because it lets her do some arts-related stuff during the day

Try different things. Two things you could try are:
1) go without coffee/tea for a few weeks
2) don't solve puzzle things late at night. they can keep your mind awake. do mentally easy things toward the end of the night.

I have had the same problem as I was spending most of my nights coding R until 4 am. What worked for me was take a small dose of melatonin for the first few nights to get tired. After a week you should be on a routine. Oh and make sure to read 20 minutes before bed with NO electronics!!!
