I'm sorry about that. I am glad the doggie would still be cared for and loved though. As you said, there are plenty of doggies out there, if you wish to have another, you can always pick one. It's not happening. The owner called when he was almost here and said he couldn't stand the look on his daughters faces when he said Lulu was going to a new home. He was still very shaken up over the loss of his wife. We talked for about 15 minutes, and I told him he was doing the right thing by taking the dog back to his kids. There are plenty of dogs out there, and the happiness of those kids is a hell of a lot more important than my short term disappointment.

It's what we did after we lost both our dog and our cat. We were not ready for a new dog, but we just took in a stray kitty off the street. Today she's a happy lapcat that I brush every day.
It's been over 3 years since my lab passed away. I will never forget how horrible the day was when he had to be put down. He was 15, and I had him for 13 years. I love dogs, but I have been reluctant to get another one, because I was avoiding the pain of losing him/her.
But I got a FB message from a friend who's sister in law had just passed away. It was her dog, and the husband can't deal with the memories or taking care of it. She shows up today after supper time. Her name is Lulu. I will treat her well. And I'll post pics later.
She is going to be very shy in the new environment at first, but I think she'll warm up to the big yard and the 80 acres of pasture land. I'll just have to teach her that cows hate dogs. I'll keep a close eye on that.
Pics later.
Hahaha, yes, cats can be like that. My current cat - that we picked up off the street - is a total gremlin (that also has a habit of stealing wafflesHis daughters love the dog. It's a story book ending. I'm just very happy for them. And although I'm kind of a cat guy, ours has always been pretty angry. But we are getting along nicely. She will look at me with her angry face, jump in my lap, and be the sweetest girl. She's awesome.
), but at some point I realized that all her airs and aggression are out of fear because of whatever life she lived as a street cat. When she's not afraid she's super sweet - she likes it when I hold her entire head when she falls asleep. A friend of mine dubbed it "the hat of safety".When I move, get a new home, as much as I love dogs....I plan to get a pair of Siamese cats.
I sometimes see a Siamese cat cross my backyard/room window...I'm mesmerized by its vivid blue eyes, intelligence, class, charming cute face and body coat. I want to pick it up to hold and squeeze and pet, buy I'm sure it will run away.
