My GE66 Raider just getting too hot lately. Been playing bf4 and temp hitting low 90s.

This thing is only about 3 years old, i'm wondering if I need to dismantle and repaste the heatsinks

I'm not seeing performance drop though..

Is this normal for this laptop?

Always check first for dust blocking the intake-outtake vents. Never assume it is your chips failing at the get-go. Easiest test is to use compressed air-can to blow into both the vents, see if that helps.

Yes, i should try that. From the exterior doens't look dusty.

And that is how they try to FUCK YOU at the drive through! Planned obsolescence! NO Hilmy, just clean the vents, redo the thermal paste if you have to, but do NOT GIVE IN to the runaway consumerism of throwing shit in the trash! GAH!
 
I doubt the unit was overclocked out of the factory. If it was overclocked using commonly found free software, yes, the laptop will overheat, that's common sense. Some CPU oc well enough with adequate ventilation or additional cooling while others will shut down quickly to prevent damage. The paste will work for some time before it fails to protect the CPU. You're taking your laptop to the edge of failure.
