Certificates? Surf, you need to go back to school to get bachelor's in education and then a master's degree. There is no certificate. And I'm not sure how many guys here in there 30's and 40's would do that. [/

I am only familiar with PA from a long time ago when all you needed was a bachelors in anything and a teaching certificate. I guess things changed??

Yeah, well for an adminsitrator you need a minimum Masters. Most if not all teachers have a Masters now. Even to be a substitute teacher now you need a bachelor's. In the past that wasn't the case. Teaching has become very competitive today. Obviously after looking at these numbers, I can see why.

Is an administrator a principal? A bach. In anything, or education? Teachers I know in NJ with masters and in top school district make about 60k.

My parents pushed me to be a professor. Maybe I should of done that instead of take the risky road.....

That's one view, the other is you are trying to help kids learn.

That's the "old" view... a couple of generations ago. Reality.. not the same now.

Let me just add something to this. It's bad enough what they are getting paid but look at what they are getting paid FOR. Education has been in decline in this country for 30 years now. Drop rates at record highs, math and science scores plummeting and illiteracy rates getting higher every year. They are getting paid this amount of money to produce idiots and dropouts. We have high schools in IL that have 50% drop out rates!!!!!! That's what makes this truly a disgrace.

Only many of them are NOT doing a very good job of it AND they're being overpaid to under perform.
