get ready for the dog catcher in chief to speak

Quote from bone:

Yep. This entire tax rate canard is nonsense - what really matters are the deductions you can find or the loopholes that very expensive lawyers and CPAs can find. Even in the late 50's when the top marginal rate was like 90 % of course absolutely no-one paid even half that after their money people were done.

If the tax rates were so important to the Dems, they could have changed individual and corporate rates to anything they wanted when they had a supermajority - but Rangel in fact created more loopholes for his buddies at GE.

The other nonsense about all this is that the outstanding debt is a factor of four greater than any income you are going to generate with changes in marginal tax rates.

Not speaking to you, but of course there are a few on both sides of the aisle who think the solution is to be found in only cutting spending or only raising taxes. But the former are much more shrill right now.

And of course the 1%'ers are more than merely present, they infest both sides of the aisle.

Don't blame S&P for what informed individuals already know. The US has a crisis of leadership which is manifesting itself in world financial upheaval. They have done nothing to reverse the course in two years starting with the dual liars Geithner and Bernanke along with the Senate of Rome. It amazes the amount of ignorance demonstrated today in the US from the top down.

Are they really ignorant, as you say, or are they fully aware of whom they serve (and it aint the working man)?

Yes, I agree with you on this one. The pols. do alot of grandstanding to try and feign support for their "constituents", but ultimately it's those lobbyist dollars that get their votes.

On the other hand, with all the handouts and crony capitalism infestation, the pols. were apoplectic at the thought of actually "cutting" spending, the upstart "fringe" politico's notwithstanding. The devil is always in the details and with few exceptions, there were never any specific cuts outlined. Just the usual "we must cut spending" or the "we need job growth", etc, etc...Nonsensical garbage and empty slogans.

Quote from Ricter:

The tea party is the party of the older boomers, facing the end and realizing two things, 1) they don't have enough for retirement and, 2) they are going to die. And they are batshit crazy scared.

Are you an expert on the Tea Party, and if so, how? Just curious. Many people share their views who do not consider themselves tea partiers. Many of them are not at the end of their lives. If you ask me, the only people who are bat shit scared are the lefties and moderates in congress. Real change is on the doorstep. Just when complete socialism was so close, too. As the great society collapses, the Tea Party will be blamed for much more. I think we can be certain of that.

This is closer to what is actually going on, as Keynesianism propped the US up for many years. It is finally meeting it's end.

Pretty much true. The Tea Party is too inflexible and so is not a useful part of any problem solving team.

Yup. The country cannot afford more people unwilling to check their pride and just cut spending.

Guys, Boehner put 'tax revenue realignment' on the table for Obama - and the President shot it down.

In the final analysis, Obama fucked up not taking the first deal offered up by Boehner.
