All that being said, stock markets are a different ball game. International companies will profit from the growth in emerging powers. I am optimistic in world economies beyond the US.

You know what I find funny about these markets, its the fact that when the markets are in rally mode for months and months and months and there are huge 150-300 point rallies on the upside you never get pull backs of 200-400 point days, however on days when the dow is falling 300, 400, 500+ points the days that follow huge down days there are usually huge up days. For example this week!


Monday down huge

Tuesday up huge

Wednesday down huge

Thursday up huge


Friday??????


All I have to say is anyone who is looking to retire and is seeing their portfolios make moves that ones sees usually in a month or two months happening in one to two days there is something very wrong with this market. The amount of stress this causes on people who have about 90% of their retirement locked up in this market are like get me the fuck out of this mess, the only people who like this volatility are traders and ones who trade short term, everyone else must be calling up their brokers on days like today to get them out of everything knowing that the next day or week will be followed by another huge 5% drop!

Part of being Canadian is understanding that the US is kind of fucked up right now due to extreme arrogance. If you thinking fighting wars is a good thing well congratulations you are paying for the last one out of your wallet.

I don't know why we equate arrogance with stupidity. Arrogance is a state of mind and if you measure things by simple intelligence tests you'll see smarter people make way more money.
