What beach block? RockaPoco as some of us used to refer to it is where I grew up. But outta there since '91.Good job! I was an ocean lifeguard at Rockaway Beach in NY but in my day, there were few 300 pounders....even in the NFL.

BTW Bernie Madoff was a lifeguard down in Far Rockway way, way back in the 60's.
"Small world". One of my brothers lives right across the street in Surfside bldg# 106, but at the time we lived down in the 90's where the beaches have rock jetties. From what I understand after SuperStorm Sandy beaches uptown now have rock jetties to try to mitigate beach sand erosion. Prolly helps lifeguards, somewhat, with protecting swimmers - rip currents, etc. Although with the size of crowds they get there on many hot, sweltering, humid summer days, as you no doubt experienced, it's still can a tough job no matter the conditions.I was stationed out of the 108 St. Shack
