Get long

Yesterday morning I put on a 120 lot skew lock (index) so figure a vega figure of 22K or so. I was short VX outright (no tenors) and long wings. SO yeah, I was long 25K vega across accounts and made 11.3% on my PM account. 5% on my RegT. For the day. I can't show how the peaks resolve or it would be engineered from the pic, but I paid $12K in tail risk to make mid 6 figs (excluding VX risk (not shown)).

This might be a dumb question, but how do you short VX outright? Are you referring to the futures contract with no options?

Thanks, and if you were short the VX outright, how were you long wings as /VX does not have options. Were you long otm calls on VIX?

Traded a 60 lot NDX vol-arb in the group PM account today and it added BP... adding nearly $400K in buying power. I figured it would require an estimated $185K under TIMS, $1MM under RegT, but it added BP. Proof.

Incoming MG assertion you are fake (And he will C&P his stupid missive to me about 25K) in 3...2...1...

Like I stated; there are 6-7 dudes who can corroborate. I think that "the ultimate Thai piker" has been banned from this thread.

Infinite % return on bp effect!

BP effect might fluctuate during the term of the arb, I am not sure you can count on it staying strictly positive. Still, absolutely brilliant trade structure!

Yeah, I keep one stressed in each tenor to spot any changes. It's remarkably stable to the dollar, but yeah, they (TDA/TIMS/OCC) may figure it out so ramping slowly. I've taken it to $50K vega.

lol if anyone understood the implications...

So how does one trade like destriero? If you were to give your 18 year old self advice on options trading (assuming that you already knew everything in the book options, futures, and other derivatives, by John Hull), what would you advise?
