Hey Dest, I think you have organize a sabatical / training getaway in the past. Do you still do that? Also, you mention sharing your skills with your kids... what age did you find they were ready?

I am doing one in October.

My oldest are 18 and 23, respectively. My 23yo is stone cold extraordinary at this. My 18yo is gifted but more concerned with hitting top-50 in Apex Legends and his streaming income.

Finn (18) prefers to trade neutral gamma with spot. My oldest prefers to replicate in vol-only. It's interesting how different they are.

I made both read Hull twice before letting them trade.

Once I came to grips with mortality my trading improved profoundly.

Thanks for the reply. Great that your kids have so much interest. My 18 year old is not ready yet but he is my only hope. The rest have no interest. I'll have patience... the market isn't going anywhere.

That's a profound statement, I did not know Jobs ever said that. But that is inherently true of course. It is the alliterative definition of deFINITE.

I would think that by embracing in that philosophy, you could only sweep well at night by knowing you already had a big nest-egg built-up and secured for your family, apart and away from your trading capital.

Cliche, but living in the present frees you up from goal-attainment. I chase things less. No FOMO. I mean, I am risk-averse and my trading went predominately into vol-arb since the Ukraine war, but I've never slept well and now I am structured long tails so I can login after the open w/o worrying about crash risk.

Be like water, my friend (Bruce Lee). Sounds like you're in a good place.

Understand being present -- not letting yourself fall into a trading trance or letting fear, whether fear of losing or FOMO, drive your decisions. I have to be very intentional about that -- for some others, it's more natural. We're not all wired the same as traders. I have to be well-rested and have "margin" in my mental bandwidth and incorporate a lot of self-talk in the process to execute well. My "wiring" and experience does enable me to see things others can't see in the markets but then that needs to be converted to actionable ideas.
